Weigh in Day # 5

Hi guys,

Today was the day that I was supposed to hit my first goal weight.  Sadly this did not happen, but I am back down from last week which is a plus! So I officially lost 2lbs.  I have been giving you guys a lot of great advice, but I admit I haven't been following my own advice to a tee.  This morning I also woke up with a sore throat.  So not good! The only benefit about being under the weather is that you consume a lot of liquids, for me it's water with lemon and a whole lot of tea.  If you have lost your sense of smell and taste than you are likely not to eat as much either.  Good for your waste line, but not my idea of fun!

I am a bit bummed out that I didn't lose my 5lbs, but I only have myself to blame for this lol  Nevertheless I will continue on.  I do have an end goal in mind and I am not going to forget about that.  I am however not going to set any goals for myself over the next 2 weeks.  With Christmas just around the corner it is difficult to try and lose those nasty pounds plus with all the running around it's tough to stay on track.  So like everyone else I will begin the dieting game again come January.

That doesn't mean I am going to go out and gorge myself on cookies, pies and chocolate.  I have every intention of maintaining my healthy lifestyle.  I am going to keep my sugar consumption a limit and continue exercising.  I have to find something else physical over the next few weeks because my Zumba class is over at the end of the week until the beginning of January again.  I will have to throw in a few more hikes with the dog I think.  Fortunately with her being a border collie I am forced to keep moving!  I have started some new games with her in the house (this breed needs a job) and this involves both of us going up and the down stairs quite a bit.  Excellent for my rear end!

Tune in for tomorrows blog because I am going to put together some diets that I have tried in the past and have been successful with and I am also going to discuss some other diets that I have tried that work right away, but once you stop those pounds come flooding back...what's the point!

These diets are not made for everyone, but if you are interested in changing your lifestyle a bit more drastically or if you are like me and need to see results quicker than maybe some of these suggestions will help you.

1 More day

Oh my goodness I am so nervous about getting on that scale tomorrow! How are you guys feeling?  I bet some of you have already surpassed your first goal.  Good for you! Keep up the good work! For those of you in the same boat as me, don't give up! We will get there! We are just enjoying life a little too much ;) Nothing wrong with it.  We have quite a few months until bikini season anyway.

I have had a quiet day at work today so I have continued baking loads of holiday treats!.  I have never been into baking, but for some reason this year I can't get enough of it! I have 4 containers of cookies in the freezer already!  Don't worry I do not plan on eating all of them.  I have decided that for 2012 everyone has enough stuff so I am doing something with a little more of a personal touch.  I hope everyone will like it!

The problem with holiday baking is that you are constantly sampling things.  That is what I have noticed over the past few days of my baking craze.  I mean you have to make sure they are editable for your family and friends right?  Well don't do what I did and eat a whole cookie.  The key is to make a small bite sized portion of whatever you baked and consume that piece.  That will give you the taste to make sure they are done to your liking and you get a treat too, but not all the calories.

Also, keep drinking water and definitely add some lemon.  Lemons and limes are excellent fruits that will increase  your metabolism.  Add the lemon or lime to your water throughout the day, not just a the morning, this will keep those sugars and fats running through your system instead of them just taking up camp on your rump.

And if you know you are going to bake a lot one day, maybe do some form of physical activity before or after.  That will at least make room for the calories you may consume so that it's almost balanced out.

Well I will see you guys tomorrow morning, 5lbs down or not :)

2 Weeks Until....

Hey everybody!!

How was your weekend?  Mine was crazy busy, but a lot of fun! I am a bit sleepy today and was actually happy to come back to work for a break lol

Did you get in some good exercise?  Try some air popped popcorn?  I baked, but only did limited sampling.  I hope it worked because this Wednesday is the moment of truth on whether I hit my goal or not! If I don't, I won't get discouraged, I will continue on and when I get there I get there!

So two weeks today is Christmas Eve, can you believe it! The stores are lavishly stocked with so many temptations it's crazy!  One of the ways that you can keep those temptations at bay is have a meal before you go out, drink a large glass of water, or go for a big run/walk.  The eating and drinking will make you full and therefore you will not want to purchase a big box of cookies and if you do some exercising you will feel proud of what you have just accomplished and will hopefully not travel down the candy isle.

With that said, I know how much everyone wants to enjoy this time year and I don't want you to not eat treats, but you just try to do consume them in moderation.

I came across this very easy/healthy snack that I want to share with you.  It's a no bake cookie recipe! My favourite! I tried it out this weekend and they were so good!  Totally killed my cravings to eat the other more fattening treats that I baked.

No bake energy bites!

Give these a whirl and before you stick your hand in that cookie jar, reach for one of these!!

Enjoy and chat with you tomorrow!
