Happy Monday!
Well by now just about everyone is either back to school, back to work and with that means reality! I hope that most of you are still eating...a lot of people try to start dieting on Mondays which is never a good idea! Hopefully you weren't like me and tried to get rid of all the evidence so that you wouldn't be tempted this week.
Over the last two months I have been sharing some ideas on how to get fit, get healthy and lose weight. While I still believe some of those are valid, I came across a documentary over the holidays that changed the way my mind works about all of these things! I am still planning on doing weight watchers because I need some faster results, but I think that everyone should watch this documentary and take notes! It is so scary what we are putting into our bodies these days!
http://www.hungryforchange.tv/ - this is the website, but you can find the documentary on Netflix if that's easier to view. I am positive you can search it on YouTube as well.
My boyfriend and immediately went out and bought a juicer. We bought oodles of veggies & fruit and started juicing. We make 1-2 juices a day now and have already noticed a difference! We have more energy and just feel better about adding the nutrients to our bodies. We have found some great recipes online and I have even saved some of the pulp to make healthy fruit muffins and plan on saving veggie pulp for soup!
Along with adding a multitude of fruits and veggies to our diet, we are now reading the ingredients of every item we purchase in the store. From bread, to meat, to dairy and everything in between we have begun the marathon of making ourselves more knowledgeable about what we are putting into our bodies. We are not going to throw things out, but rather once they are finished they will be replaced with healthier items.
If you are not interested in watching the documentary then my biggest recommendation to you would be to look at the ingredients on anything you purchase at the grocery store and compare the sugar contents. We are eating way too much refined sugar which is a big part of the weight gain and illness increases in our country. And don't be too eager to consume all of the non-fat/low-fat products that have been invented because they are no good for you. The sugar contents are through the roof, plus the non-fat products do not provide you with the nutrients that you need.
Please do not feel obligated to go out and buy a juicer either. They can be quite pricey that's for sure, but take the information about adding the right the things into your diet and slowly wean out the things that could be making you gain weight or ill by false advertising!
I will leave you with today; eat all things green and leafy and be aware of the Zero Calorie items! No calories could equal very serious consequences!
Cheers!
