Good morning!
Have you all consumed at least 2-3 tall glasses of water this morning? Who added lemon? It's not bad eh?
What did you guys have for breakfast? Did you eat breakfast? Shame on you if you if you didn't. I had a delicious bowl of chocolate covered cheerios...you think I am not being healthy right? Actually cheerios are very good for you! Even with some chocolate added, they are still only 110 calories per cup. Not bad for chocolate!
Breakfast really is the most important meal of the day. Think about it, you have been fasting for 8-10 hours, your body needs energy to function. Despite what my wonderful boyfriend thinks, coffee does not count as breakfast, that is actually the worst thing you could do. I support a cup of coffee in the morning, but it has to go along with some form of food.
If you have time in the morning, eggs are probably one of the best sources of protein. If scrambled or fried eggs are too boring, mix it up!
I like to make it Greek in the am - I use 2 scrambled eggs or 4 egg whites, chop up a little onion, a little green pepper, maybe through in a mushroom and of course a little feta cheese. beat everything in a bowl with a whisk, add a touch of olive oil to your pan and add it in. I add a little pepper for some more flavour and away you go. I am good for a few hours on this.
If eggs aren't your thing then make a breakfast smoothie! So easy and so delicious! Buy a bag of frozen mixed berries (fresh is always better, but frozen is sometimes easier), add a cup of the berries to the blender, 6oz of yogurt and either 1 cup of kefir, or 1 cup of almond milk or 1 cup of regular milk, which ever you prefer. Blend it up and away you go! This is one of my favourites!
Another easy breakfast meal is oatmeal - leave a box at the office, make it when you get to work if that is easier.
There are of course tons of other things you can eat for breakfast, maybe stay away from the fast food places and don't eat a pound of bacon, I know it's tasty, but not so good for that waste line! With that said, I always have a bacon & egg breakfast at least once during the week, usually on the weekends, but only have 2 pieces instead 12 and maybe narrow it down to 1 piece of toast.
Please let me know if you guys have other healthy/tasty breakfast items that we can add. Having more ideas makes getting healthy a lot more enticing!
