The first Day

Good morning everyone!

I hope everyone had an excellent weekend!  Of course I decide to start a blog about getting fit and healthy right before my birthday weekend!! I truly believe that while you want be healthy and fit and perhaps lose weight, you still need to live! If you are following this and are trying to lose weight please do not forget to enjoy yourself.  You will only get upset if you don't...trust me!

I was actually pretty well behaved!  I combined some delicious chocolate treats and some good wine with a fair amount of exerce! Two hikes with the dog and some fun dancing! I am totally impressed with myself. .

Today it all begins.  I plan on stepping on the scale on Wednesday to see where I am at and if I am brave enough I will let you know what that number is.  You can get pretty obsessed and crazy if you weigh yourself everyday or even more than once a week.  Your body naturally fluctuates in weight daily...there can be a 5lb radius depending on what you ate, drank and what physical activity you did in a certain day.  And being a woman, our weight tends to fluctuate that much more for reasons I am sure I do not have to explain.  I choose Wednesday mornings as weigh in day because it gives you time to lose what you may have gained over the weekend.  Do whatever you think works best for you depending on your schedule.

I have a lot of ideas and tricks up my sleave, but for today I wanted to start with what I think is the most important one.  WATER  Yes WATER  Try to drink as much as you can during the day.  The first thing I do every morning is drink a full 8oz glass.  If you want to go one better, then squeeze some lemon juice in it.  This will help boost your metabolism for the day, plus it makes water a little more exciting.  If cold water is not what you need in the morning and drink hot water.  Hot water and lemon is what I have heard, the best possible thing you can do for your body.  Sadly I do not like hot water with lemon.  But really, any form of water is better than none at all!

Don't let yourself get thirsty!  Studies have shown that our bodies are made up of anywhere between 57 - 75 % water (depending on what information you read) that's a lot!  Water actually flushes toxins out of your system and by drinking more water every day you will suprisingly lose weight faster.  I will warn you, the first two days you will running to and from the bathroom on a frequent bases until your body has flushed things out.

Try drinking more water than  you did yesterday and later today or tomorrow I will add another tidbit to kick start your more healthy lifestyle!
