As promised, here is my second post for the day.
This one is not meant to be scary, it's supposed to be the fun part of getting healthy.
Unfortunately exercise gets a bad reputation because the media and society say that in order to get fit you need to run, get a gym membership, feel sore and exhausted. Well that is not the goal! The easiest way to get more exercise is to find something that you love to do!
Growing up I rode horses, I was really lucky to have a few of my own so I was at the barn 8 out of 7 days a week mucking stalls, sweeping barns and riding horses. I was fit as a fiddle! Sadly, once my horses got older and retired, so did I. And if you don't know, horses are like really really expensive so I am forced to take a break from riding right now.
It's been awhile since I have found something I like to do, something that I am as passionate about as I was with horses. Over the past 4-5 years I have tried running, got a gym membership, tried running again, got into Yoga for a bit, but still nothing kept my interest or drive to move my butt.
Well in the past month I have finally found the exercise agenda I have been waiting for....ZUMBA!! Oh my goodness is it ever fun! 45 minutes of dancing (and I am so uncoordinated by the way) and then 10 mins of abs. I go twice a week. This class not only makes you sweat and works every part of your body, but you are constantly reminded of how sexy you are! Seriously if you are in a rut find a class!
With that said, the idea of this post is not to get you to spend money, the idea is to get you moving. Just go for a walk around the block if that is all you think you have time for and want to do. If you sit in an office all day then climb a few flights of stairs. Just get up and get moving more than you have been. I guarantee you will feel better.
Exercise is not only good for your heart and waistline, but it's great for the soul. You release endorphins when you start moving and endorphins make you happy!
So go and get your happy on!!
